Twenty years ago, I held the belief that the key to peace between Israel and the Palestinians was the economic advancement of the Palestinian people.
I knew the PA leaders were corrupt and stealing from the public coffers.
I thought the best course would be governmental reform, checks and balances (ha) and a business initiative to somehow improve economic conditions.
People are self-interested, I reasoned. The Palestinians would surely abandon their destructive course if they were living a good life in material comfort.
But even before 10/7 I discovered that my belief was not true.
As violence and dangerous rhetoric against Israelis only increased in the face of legitimate offers of land for peace- including in 2014 when Ehud Olmert offered about 96% of Judea and Samaria (West Bank), Gaza and East Jerusalem as its capital plus a piece of the Negev to compensate for the 4% of the territory they were not getting- I came to understand that the Palestinian cause had nothing to do with freedom and the betterment of Palestinians.
The Palestinian cause is about one thing- destroying Israel and revenge for the multiple humiliating losses in the many wars of aggression.
Bogus claims of apartheid and genocide, which the western media and governments eat up, are a smokescreen.
Post 10/7 this should be obvious to anyone who is not a committed Jew hater, hopelessly naive, or woefully ill informed.
If the Palestinians had an independent State with the freedom of action that this entails, we know what they would do because they have told us so time and again.
Their freedom to plan terrorist activities and obtain weapons would be unchecked.
Surveys show a large majority of Palestinians support Hamas and welcomed the slaughter of Jews that occurred on 10/7.
The border between Israel and the territories in Judea and Samaria is miles longer than Gaza and the danger of terrorist infiltration without Israel’s military presence, is untenable.
After 10/7 how can any sane person expect Israel to take that risk?
When governments unilaterally recognize a “Palestinian State” or advocate for such a State as most western governments do, they are declaring their support for Israel’s destruction.
Post 10/7 I learned that the Palestinians are pawns of the Iranian government and its proxies in a movement that seeks to create a caliphate in the entire Middle East.
Israel is the first line of defense against the proliferation of this dangerous ideology in the West. Standing with Israel protects us all.
To be sure, there are Palestinian peace activists out there who reject the culture of death and genuinely seek peaceful coexistence and they provide a glimmer of hope.
If the population ever turns around to this way of thinking we can talk about a peaceful resolution to this conflict that has taken so many lives.
Until then, the so-called two state solution is the “final” solution for one side- and it’s not the Israeli side.
The only people who insist Palestinians should be rewarded with a state for their genocidal terrorism are exactly the ones who want the Palestinians to have more territory to turn into a larger rocket artillery infrastructure than Gaza, and a better position from which to launch an even bigger and more dangerous war. These people aren’t “peace activists” or “human rights activists”, they’re war mongers and genocide supporters.
Unilaterally withdrawing from more territory after the lessons of the withdrawal from Gaza in 2005 and the withdrawal from South Lebanon would be the definition of insanity. All historical evidence points to that being a catastrophic decision if it occurred, especially because there is no evidence to indicate that the corrupt, feckless PA would survive more than a week without the IDF’s support.
